Day 1: I awaken with a fairly innocuous looking pimple-type bump on my right thigh.
Within two hours the spot on my thigh changed from nothing to be worried about…
To something that I might need to worry about…
To something terrifying. Rushed to Urgent Care, given antibiotics for “spider bite”.
Woke up on Day 2 to find the pimple had popped during my sleep.
Washed off excess drainage, didnt look too bad. Thought all was on the mend.
Day 3 didnt look so great. Decided to go to Emergency Room.
Sight of leg in taxi on way to ER said I was making the right decision.
Had surgery within an hour of arriving in ER. While awake. Syringes went in through sore
Day after surgery. Not looking great. Diagnosed with MRSA, given antibiotics IV
After five days in hospital swelling and infection beginning to recede.
Today, the wound has begun to finally start closing.
